Selena inspired by old-school Britney for sophomore album

After scoring a big hit with her dance-pop single “Naturally”, 17-year-old Disney cutie Selena Gomez is taking inspiration from from Queen of teen pop for her upcoming sophomore album, looking to Britney Spears older records to drive the sound of her next record.

“I think what we really want to do with this record is musically more mature and with my whole sound and vibe and what I want to become as a musician. I think this is the first step to that. So it’s very techno, it’s very like old-school Britney stuff that I love.” source

Selena’s first album Kiss & Tell has been certified Gold since it’s release, while “Naturally” reached the top thirty of the Hot 100 and top ten in the UK.

“Naturally” actually sounds like something from Britney’s 2001 third album ‘Britney’, so I hope Selena goes in that direction. Besides the raunchy “Slave 4 U” the rest of that album was just vibrant feel-good dance-pop and I think that right now pop music is moving out of it’s dark phase, so that’d be the best direction to go in for Selena.
